Five Warriors extend football careers together at Missouri Valley College

After turning in a remarkable football season this past fall, five Warrenton players have not only decided to take their careers to the next level, but to play at the same school.

As of Feb. 26, Brandon Johnson, Mason Thompson, Austin White, Peyton Dawson and Jeremiah Montgomery signed official letters of intent to play football at Missouri Valley College.

“It was a coincidence and planned at the same time,” Montgomery said. “We all went on the same visit the same day and ended up liking it the most.”

For all five Warriors, the excitement of continuing their journey together was palpable. The established chemistry they built over their high school careers will serve as a solid foundation as they transition into this new chapter of their lives.

“Their new head coach was very big on us staying together,” Montgomery said. “He said he’d do everything in his power just to keep us all together.”

“All of us can benefit by holding each other accountable,” Johnson added.

The group also praised the new coaching staff at Missouri Valley, noting how welcoming they were.

“I’m very excited about the brand new coaching staff at Missouri Valley,” Thompson added. “They have very nice facilities and a great atmosphere on campus.”

Many of the new coaches previously coached Warrenton football assistant coach Brandon Molinari when he played at Central Methodist University, further solidifying their trust and appeal towards the program.

“If (Molinari) trusts the coaches then I do too,” White said.

Their shared love of football was the main reason the five players decided to extend their careers in college.

“I couldn’t give it up,” Dawson said. “You just can’t stay away from it – it’s addicting,” White added.

“High school gave me such a good experience and I didn’t want it to end,” Thompson said. “I want to do it for as long as I can,” Johnson added.

“For me, after the last game, it’s just a feeling and you can’t stop playing,” Montgomery said.

As the five seniors embark on a new journey side by side, they will be able to take a little piece of home with them to Marshall, Mo., and continue their shared passion for the sport.

“We get to keep it going and it’s going to be a lot of fun,” Dawson said.
