The Warrenton boys and girls wrestling teams recently competed in the Fort Zumwalt North Tournament this past weekend. The girls team competed on Dec. 6 and placed 17th overall out of 21 teams, while the boys competed on Dec. 7 and placed ninth out of 24 teams.
Three Warriors placed first in their respective weight class. In the 113-pound class, Zayden Teson finished first out of 11 wrestlers after defeating Seckman’s Dorrian Clark. Manny McCauley also placed first out of 17 wrestlers in the 126-pound class after winning his championship match against Hickman’s Hogan Benter.
Competing in the 138-pound class with 16 other wrestlers, Noah Lohrmann not only placed first, but reached his 100th career win after defeating Republic’s Keaton Overcast in the championship round.
On the girls team, two Warriors medaled. Alexis Ruff placed second out of 15 girls in the 120-pound class after falling to Fulton’s Mackinzie Brewer in the first-place match. Dakota Lohrmann ended with a sixth-place finish out of 17 wrestlers in the 125-pound class. In the fifth-place match, Lohrmann fell to Capital City’s Keylee Jones.
The Warriors will compete again this weekend in the Liberty Invitational. The girls contest will be on Dec. 13, while the boys will compete on Dec. 14.
