Now that Warren County election officials have had a month to breathe after the major turnout for statewide elections in November, it’s time to start planning for local elections in the spring.
Dec. 11 was the first day to file candidacy for local school board and city government positions that will be voted on April 2.
The deadline to file for elected positions is Jan. 15, 2019.
Those interested in running for office should contact the relevant political district and inquire about any filing fees and eligibility requirements.
City of Warrenton
In the city of Warrenton, the offices of Mayor Eric Schleuter and three aldermen are up for election. The aldermen whose terms end in April are Greg Costello, Ward 1; Gary Auch, Ward 2; and Gary Miller, Ward 3.
Mayor and aldermen serve for a two-year term. Candidates may file with the city clerk at Warrenton City Hall, 200 W. Booneslick Road.

Warren County R-III School District
Two seats on the R-III Board of Education will be open for election this April. Board members serve for three-year terms. The positions are currently held by Ginger Schenck and Allan Dreyer.
Candidates may file at the superintendent’s office, 385 W. Veterans Memorial Parkway, Warrenton.
Warrenton Fire Protection District
On the board of directors that controls Warrenton FPD, there are three seats set for election. Two of those seats are for six-year terms, and are currently filled by Malissa Booth and Donald Owenby.
The remaining elected position is to finish the last two years of an elected term. Jim Sharp currently fills that seat.
Candidates may file for the election at Warrenton Fire Station 1, 606 Fairgrounds Road, Warrenton.
City of Wright City
In Wright City, two aldermanic seats will be on the ballot. The positions of Aldermen Kerry Lambright, Ward 1, and Nathan Rohr, Ward 2, are up for election.
Aldermen serve for a two-year term. During the first week of filing (Dec. 11-13,) candidates may file for elections at the old Wright City Hall, 203 Veterans Memorial Parkway. From Dec. 17 onward, candidates may file at the new Wright City Hall, 636 Westwoods Road.
Ward 1 consists of all residences north of Interstate 70, and Ward 2 is south of I-70.
Wright City R-II School District
Two seats on the Wright City Board of Education are open for candidates. Austin Jones and Mary Groeper currently serve in those positions.
Members of the school board serve for three-year terms. Candidates may file at the school district’s central office, 90 Bell Road, Wright City.
City of Marthasville
Three positions in Marthasville’s city government are open to candidates. Mayor David Lange, West Ward Alderman Leo Meyer and East Ward Alderman Dan Grafrath all have terms expiring.
Mayor and aldermen serve for two-year terms. Candidates may file at Marthasville City Hall, 402 E. Main St.

School District of Washington
The School District of Washington, which serves the Marthasville area, has two school board seats up for grabs. The terms of Dan Contarini and Trish Mitchell, both of Washington, will expire in April.
Candidates may file at the district’s administration office at 220 Locust St. in Washington. District offices will be closed from Dec. 21 through Jan. 1.
City of Truesdale
The offices of mayor and two aldermen for the city of Truesdale will be decided by voters in April. The incumbents to those positions are Mayor Chris Watson and Aldermen Robert Green and Stanley Brookshier.
Mayor and aldermen serve for a two-year term. Candidates may file at Truesdale City Hall, 109 Pinckney St.
Village of Innsbrook
Three positions on the Village of Innsbrook’s Board of Trustees are available for election. The seats currently are held by Jeffry Thomsen, Trish Dunn and Jerry Rust.
Trustees serve for two-year terms. Candidates may file at the Innsbrook Village Hall, 1835 Highway F.
City of Foristell
Two board of aldermen seats are up for election in Foristell, one each representing Ward 1 and Ward 2. Ward 1 consists of all residences north of the Norfolk and Southern Railroad. Ward 2 is south of the Norfolk and Southern Railroad.
Aldermen serve for two-year terms. Candidates may file at Foristell City Hall, 121 Mulberry St.
