The Liberty Christian Academy boys basketball team recently played in two matches over the past week to end its 2024 portion of the season.
After this week’s matches, Liberty Christian holds an 8-4 overall record and a 4-1 conference record.
On Dec. 12, Liberty Christian dominated Thomas Jefferson School 52-15 in a conference contest. Sophomore Phoenix Obermann was the leading scorer for the Eagles with 18. Obermann also recorded three defensive rebounds and three steals. Junior Willy Mueller also played a big contribution in their win, tallying eight points, 10 rebounds and three steals. In addition, Ryder Carlisle had 11 points and Cooper Dickson had six steals.
In their non-conference game against Wellsville-Middletown on Dec. 13, the Eagles fell in double overtime 55-46. At the end of regulation, both teams were tied 37-37. In the first overtime, the Eagles and the Tigers both recorded five points each which forced them into a second overtime. However, the Tigers were able to pull through by scoring 13 points versus Liberty Christian’s four. Obermann led the team again with 21 points. Mueller recorded 12 rebounds and five blocks.
The Eagles will play again on Jan. 3 at Eagle Ridge Christian for another conference game.
