The Cuivre River Electric Community Trust Board has awarded a $6,000 Operation Round Up grant to Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Service for its housing assistance program.

The purpose of the organization’s housing assistance program is to protect families, especially children, senior citizens, and disabled individuals from the despair, hopelessness and social injustice caused by poverty.

Sts. Joachim and Ann is one of the only agencies in the region with the ability to work with families and individuals through the intensive process of case management. It assesses, plans, facilitates, advocates, educates, and coordinates care of each person or family served to meet their specific housing need. The agency assists 6,000 individuals each year.

Eligible clients participate in intensive, long-term case management through the agency’s social service team who will work with them to develop tools and resources to increase their chances of becoming self-reliant. Case management assists and coordinates after-care planning, budgeting, credit repair, career counseling and other services identified as being critical for the household’s success.

Sts. Joachim and Ann, located at 4116 McClay Road, St. Charles 63304, assists qualified residents of St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties.

Earlier this summer, Sts. Joachim and Ann had a photo exhibit titled “In Plain Sight – Homelessness Exposed” on display at St. Peters Cultural Art Centre. The project showcased photographs taken by homeless individuals in the region in an effort to raise awareness about poverty. The photos can be viewed at inplainsight.live.

The goal of Operation Round Up is to help address needs in the areas of health, education, home weatherization, youth, community and emergency services that cannot be met with other resources.

More than $5 million have been awarded to applicants since the Operation Round Up program began in 1997.
