Cuivre River Electric Co-Op elects four new directors

Cuivre River Electric Cooperative members elected four directors at its annual meeting Friday, Aug. 12, at the Family Arena in St. Charles.Nearly 2,000 people attended the event.Cuivre River is the largest electric cooperative in Missouri, providing dependable electric service to over 63,000 homes and businesses.Currently 59 percent of Cuivre River members live in St. Charles County, 24 percent in Lincoln County, 15 percent in Warren County and 2 percent in Pike County. Several members also live in Montgomery County.Four directors were elected to three-year terms in their respective districts.Jeff Geisendorfer of Troy was newly elected to serve his first term in Lincoln County District 2. Gary Grunick of Troy also was a contender on the ballot.Walter Gregory of Bowling Green was successful in his bid to serve another term in Pike County. Samuel Sherlock of Eolia also bid for the seat.Diane Saale of Defiance was re-elected to serve in St. Charles County District 2. Dave London of Defiance, John W. Lewis of Wentzville and Robert “Bob” Howenstein of Defiance also competed for the seat.Daniel P. Elliott of Warrenton was re-elected to serve in Warren County District 1. Also vying for the opportunity were Cory Johnston of Warrenton and Chad Smith of Truxton.Delano Brown of Winfield, who retired from Lincoln County District 2, was honored for his 45 years of service. His election to 15 consecutive terms made him the longest-serving Cuivre River director in the cooperative’s history.John Wheeler of Saint Paul won the top prize of free electricity for one year ($1,500 bill credit).Patricia and Robert Rooney of Lake Saint Louis, and David and Janice London of Defiance took home prizes of a $500 bill credit.Mike and Kelly Day of Saint Charles and Paul and Rose Jordan of Lake Saint Louis won prizes of $250 bill credits. Certificates from other retailers, event tickets and 12 individual months of free electricity were also awarded.A total of 199 children registered to win special attendance prizes. The grand prize winners Annabelle Lorraine of Wentzville and Jayden Ray of Old Monroe each received a Trek 20-inch Bicycle and Bontrager helmet.Daniel P. ElliottLyle Whitworth Photography
