A Warren County man accused of a sexual assault in a backyard pool has been convicted of second-degree sodomy and is now awaiting sentencing.Ronald P. Watson, 63, was charged with the crime in August 2017 after a female told authorities she had been assaulted at Watson’s home off of Highway F south of Innsbrook. After the alleged assault in the pool, the woman reportedly escaped and locked herself in a bathroom, before eventually leaving the residence.Watson was arrested six days later by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.Last week, Watson entered what is called an Alford plea. An Alford plea admits no guilt, but acknowledges the likelihood of a conviction of the case proceeds to trial. The sodomy charge against Watson is a Class D felony with a maximum prison sentence of seven years. He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 5 in Warren County Circuit Court by Associate Judge Michael Wright.Ron Watson
