Transportation advocacy group A Better Road Forward (ABRF) announced CertainTeed Corporation has joined its coalition to oppose tolling of existing roads in Missouri.CertainTeed is a leading roofing shingle manufacturer with operations in the Interstate 70 corridor.“We are proud to support efforts to ban toll roads in Missouri,” CertainTeed RPG Manufacturing Manager Mark Hyde said. “We believe tolling would have a devastating negative economic impact to the local economy and significantly hinder job growth in Missouri beginning along the I-70 corridor.”CertainTeed was founded in East St. Louis, Ill., in 1904, and is a leading brand of sustainable building materials. It offers residential, commercial and solar roofing products.“We welcome the support of Missouri’s leading job creators such as CertainTeed who share our view that toll roads are not a viable solution for our transportation needs,” said ABRF Chairman Wayne Baker.“Toll roads are just another tax on hard-working Missouri families and businesses and would be especially burdensome on our state’s manufacturers and family farmers who rely on efficient access to the interstate for quickly moving products to market,” he said.ABRF is an advocacy group comprised of concerned citizens, businesses, organizations and communities who are committed to finding viable funding solutions to solve Missouri’s transportation crisis. The group opposes tolling of existing roads in Missouri and announced on April 5 it filed three initiative petitions with the Secretary of State for placement on the 2018 ballot to ban tolling in Missouri.More information on A Better Road Forward can be found at BetterRoadMO.com.CertainTeed
