Space is still available for Boots ’n Bling, the biggest event of the year for Turning Point Advocacy Services.The event will be held Friday, April 12, at the Aspen Center in Innsbrook. Doors open at 6 p.m. The evening will feature a wine pull, live auction, dinner and dancing.Auction items include a day for four with KMOX Sports Director Tom Ackerman for a personal tour for four of KMOX, a show sit-in, tour of the Cardinals Hall of Fame museum and tickets to a Cardinals game; artworks by local artisans and a chance to bid on monthly fresh cut flowers for one year from A Moment of Grace Florist.In the last days before the event, organizers are encouraging individuals, organizations and businesses to lend their support and attend this fun and important event. Proceeds from Boots ’n Bling help Turning Point provide emergency shelter to individuals and their children and empower non-sheltered clients with opportunities for counseling, legal assistance and educational services.“We provide services in six counties. In most of the areas we serve, we are the only resource for people who need the most help,” said Jolynn Houchins, executive director for Turning Point. “We rely on the funds we raise at Boots ’n Bling to provide all the services we do and bring safety and security to people whose safety and security has been wrecked.”Domestic abuse and sexual assault have a huge impact on the economies and crime rates of communities. The Honorable Kelly Broniec, an associate circuit judge in Montgomery County, is keynote speaker. She will discuss her experience in the courtroom that connects with Turning Point’s work as advocates and educators in domestic and sexual abuse. Broniec was an assistant prosecutor in Montgomery County and served as the county’s elected prosecutor for seven years.Every guest who brings an item from the shelter’s wish list will receive a raffle ticket for prizes.
