Banze named state FFA vice president

During the 88th Missouri FFA Convention, Nick Banze, Warrenton, was named the 2016-17 State FFA vice president representing Area 5.Banze is a member of the Warrenton FFA Chapter. His advisers are Dan Burkemper and Diane Miederhoff. His parents are Todd and Beth Banze.Banze’s supervised agriculture experience program consists of renting 35 acres of farmland used to grow corn and soybeans. In addition to his SAE, Banze raises and exhibits swine and sheep. Banze also works on his family’s farm and maintains a vegetable garden.Banze is president of the Area 5 FFA Association. He has served as chapter president, vice president and historian of the Warrenton FFA Chapter. Banze also served as president at State FFA Leadership Camp.Banze placed second in the area Missouri Farm Bureau Public Speaking Contest and second in the district Missouri Institute of Cooperatives Fall Public Speaking Contest. He received the State FFA camp leadership medal and the Missouri FFA Public Speaking Academy leadership medal. At the chapter level, Banze has been awarded the Star Greenhand Award, the Dekalb Workhorse Award, as well as a vegetable production proficiency award. Banze also was selected for the inaugural HYPE (Helping Youth Prepare for Excellence) Academy.In addition to FFA, Banze has served as 4-H club secretary. He is the captain and coach of his community basketball team and has participated in wrestling, scholar bowl, speech and debate club, Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and National Honor Society. Banze also is involved in his church and is part of its youth leadership program.After high school, Nick plans to study crop management at the University of Missouri-Columbia.The Missouri FFA has 25,920 members representing 340 chapters.Nick Banze
