Liberty Christian student Tommy Meyer has played a pivotal role in Eagles’ athletics, whether it is on the soccer field or on the basketball court. The 6’3” junior has had a fast start to the beginning of the basketball season, averaging 10.8 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and 1.8 steals per game. Meyer earned second team all-state in soccer after helping his team reach a second place finish at the MCSAA tournament in 2023. Having been on the varsity level since an eighth grader, Meyer feels more of an incentive to take on a leadership role this season and hopefully continue his career at the collegiate level.

Do you have a favorite between the two, and why?
“Definitely basketball. I just have a passion for it. My family’s always played it for a while and I started to get good at it and loved it.”
What positions do you play in both sports?
“I kind of play all around between guard and center. For soccer, I’m a left winger.”
Do you have hopes to play collegiate basketball?

“To have good sportsmanship and have a better attitude and leadership.”
As an upperclassman, do you feel you have taken on more of a leadership role, and how?

Do you have any game day routine that you follow?
“No, not really. I do eat McDonalds before the game begins.”
Is there an athlete that you look up to?
“Kyrie Irving. He’s been kind of my childhood person that I’ve looked up to. I’ve been basing my game style off of him since I was a little kid.”
With soccer, do you have any goals for your senior season next year?
“I mean not necessarily. I hope our team progresses and does better than we did last year.”
