Other competitors for the Wildcats were Matthew Johnston (38th, 19:48), Frankie Zykan (64th, 20:40), Kaden Needham (75th, 21:05), Zane Webster (89th, 21:20), Mason Krueger (115th, 25:15), Liliana Wiedemeier (40th, 25:39) and Meadow Jones (65th, 28:26).
The Wildcats will compete in the Eastern Missouri Conference Meet on Oct. 18 at the Pike County Fairgrounds in Bowling Green.
Eagles place second in conference tourney
The Liberty Christian volleyball team secured a second-place finish in the Metro Athletic Conference on Oct. 11. The Eagles, who were tabbed as the sixth seed, entered the tournament and defeated Eagle Ridge and Victory Christian Academy.
In the championship match, they faced No. 1 Heritage Classical Christian Academy and fell in four sets to take second place.
Marielle Moss was selected to the MAC second team all-conference.
Warriors compete in Border Wars
Matt Craven placed 51st in 18:30 and Jonathan Sweitzer came in 93rd in 19:30 to lead the Warrenton cross country team at the Border Wars meet at Principia College on Oct. 11.
“With two more meets before districts, we are hoping that we can get Craven and Sweitzer to qualify for the state meet,” Warrenton coach Jeremy Collins said.
Ken Le (165nd, 20:48), Landon Neace (174th, 21:01), Alex Cutler (247th, 23:19) and Noah Joens (317th, 29:01) were the other competitors for the Warrenton boys team, which placed 20th out of 22 teams.
Senior Makenna Faubion was the top finisher for the girls team, placing 48th in 22:21.
“Like (Craven) and (Sweitzer), (Faubion) is in the mix to qualify for the state meet,” Collins said.
Other competitors for the Warriors in the girls race were Payton Street (173rd, 26:13), Sophie Bennett (174th, 26:14), Marcia Garcia-Baquero Tapia (177th, 26:17), Ava Schneider (181st, 26:18), Madeline McAtee (242nd, 31:03), Charlotte Naes (259th, 33:43) and Taryn Sharp (263rd, 34:09). Warrenton placed 20th.
The Warriors will compete in the GAC Conference meet on Oct. 16, held in McNair Park.
Soccer Warriors defeat Wildcats
The Warrenton boys soccer team defeated Wright City 8-1 on Oct. 13.
For the Warriors, Isaac Wagner and Tyler Scruggs each had a hat trick, Hudson Kieffer and David Ross recorded one goal each, Caden Baum and Nolan Donovan each had two assists and Scruggs, Wagner and Ian Young had one assist each. Warrenton goalkeeper Riley McGee had four saves.
Jonathan Windmann had the lone goal for Wright City. It was assisted by Zach Frey-Collins.
Wright City will play Mexico at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 21 on the road. Warrenton will play at 5:45 p.m. on Oct. 16 at Troy Buchanan for a GAC Cup Stage 2 match.
