After previously rejecting a zoning code amendment for planned development areas, the Wright City Board of Aldermen approved a revised version of the ordinance by a 3-1 vote during its meeting Thursday, Nov. 6. The amended version reduces the average lot size to 21,780 square feet in the SR-2 zoning areas. Alderman Kim Arbuthnot cast the lone dissenting vote. more
Officials with the Wright City Fire Protection District said the cause of a fire that started in a garage of a home on Beretta Court is still under investigation. A fire Saturday at a home on Beretta Court in Wright City was contained and crews were able to save 50 percent of the home according to an official with the Wright City Fire Protection District. more

Wright City’s softball season ended on a tough note on Oct. 20. The Wildcats fell 4-3 to top-seeded Blair Oaks in a Class 3, District 2 semifinal game at Owensville. Wright City had a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh before the Falcons came back with two runs in the inning to pull off the win. more

Adalyn Ferrell got a big boost of confidence on Oct. 18 as her season is coming down to its final weeks. The Wright City junior earned her second straight Eastern Missouri Conference award after placing fifth with a time of 22:13.2 at the Eastern Missouri Conference championship meet at the Pike County Fairgrounds in Bowling Green. She was the only Wright City runner to receive an all-league award.  more
