A Wright City woman was hospitalized after a vehicle she was a passenger in was involved in a three-car crash Dec. 16 on Highway 47 near Hawk Point in Lincoln County.
Rebeka Keown, 28, was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis by Lincoln County Ambulance with what are listed as moderate injuries.
She was a passenger in a 2010 Ford Focus driven by Lance A. Keown, 29 of Wright City, that was traveling northbound on Highway 47.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report, a 2009 Pontiac G6 driven by Louis Simmons, 34 of Troy, was traveling southbound on Missouri 47 near Westview Drive and tried to pass a 2021 Jeep Wrangler driven by Heather N. Kidwell, 32 of Winfield.
In attempting to pass, Simmons' vehicle struck the front of Keown's vehicle, then traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck a ditch, and caught on fire.
Keown's vehicle spun around counterclockwise and then struck Kidwell's car. A 6-year-old girl in the Jeep Wrangler was also taken the hospital after the crash.
Both people taken to the hospital were wearing their safety devices. No additional information about their injuries was immediately available.
The vehicles driven by both Simmons and Keown were listed as totaled and towed from the scene. Kidwell's vehicle suffered minor damage and was left at the scene.
It is unknown if Keown had insurance, according to the report.
