Wright City resident Amy Shirley was killed in a three-car accident shortly before 11 a.m. yesterday.
Shirley, 42, was traveling west on Interstate 70 in St. Charles County when she traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck Moore, Oklahoma resident John Lyeyva’s 2023 Freightliner Cascadia semi truck, which was parked on the left shoulder. Shirley’s vehicle returned to the roadway after the impact and struck Tava Eaton’s vehicle.
Shirley was pronounced dead on the scene by St. Charles City Fire and EMS personnel according to the crash report. Lyeyva, 36, and Eaton, 70, also of Wright City, received minor injuries in the accident.
Shirley was transported to the St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s Office by Lonning Mortuary Services.
Lyeyva and Eaton were not hospitalized according to the report, and both of their vehicles received minor damage. Lyeyva’s truck was towed from the scene by Terry’s Towing and Eaton’s vehicle was driven from the scene.
Shirley’s vehicle was totaled and removed from the scene by Terry’s Towing.
