The Wright City Police Department received $9,075 from a local law enforcement block grant from the Department of Public Safety, it was announced during the Jan. 25 board of aldermen meeting.
Police Chief Tom Canavan said the department would use the money to purchase two in-car computers for the city’s police vehicles.
The police department is working to replace the in-car computers in all of its vehicles.
“The current computers that we have are no longer serviceable,” Police Lieut. Aaron Sutton told aldermen in December when the city approved applying for an unrelated grant. “They will not provide parts. There’s no warranty. There’s nothing that we can do outside of taking an old computer and getting it together with what we have now.
At the time, Sutton said the cost of the new computers and docks is $49,000.
