Momentum could never stay on the Wright City football team's side in Friday's 13-6 loss at Orchard Farm.
The defeat dropped the Wildcats to 1-1 on the season. They face Mark Twain next Friday, Sept. 18.
Turnovers plagued Wright City in the first half with multiple interceptions. An early interception returned for a touchdown was erased by a Wright City penalty. A potential scoring drive was snuffed out on a dropped pass .
Orchard Farm led 7-0 at halftime. The Eagles extended its lead to 13-0 in the final seconds of the third quarter when a deflected pass in the end zone landed in the hands of Jon Kennedy.
Wright City's lone touchdown came on a 11-yard pass from Joey Gendron to Duan McRoberts with 4:03 remaining in the game.
The Wildcats had one final chance to set up a game-tying drive. However, Orchard Farm's punt was downed at the two-yard line and the Wildcats' final three passes fell incomplete.
