Phillip Kackley earned a first place finish at the Forest Park Invite to help Warrenton place third as a team.
Kackley led all boys runners at the competition in the white division. He finished the race with a time of 16:56, a personal record. Teammate Wyatt Claiborne ran the race in 17:27 and earned a third place finish. Matt Craven and Jacob Beckemeyer both registered top-30 finishes for the Warriors. A freshman, Craven ran the race in 18:54, which was a personal record. Beckemeyer placed 29th with a time of 18:56. Noah Cline placed 47th for the Warriors. He ran the race in 19:52.
The Warriors earned a third place plaque after being in fourth place after the first mile.
“As the race went on, they were able to gain spots,” Warrenton cross country coach Jeremy Collins said. “Everyone has to be tough and try to move up during a race and as a team, we did an awesome job. Cross country is an exciting team sport and it was fun to see them earn their first plaque of the season.”
The Warrenton girls cross country runners placed ninth as a team during the competition. Freshman Alexis Ruff led the Lady Warriors with a 26th place finish. She moved up 13 spots after the first mile of the race. She ran the race in 24:01.
“She is still learning how to run a 5K and how to pace herself, but when she gets a little more experience, her times are going to really drop,” Collins said.
Camryn Petersmeyer registered a 30th place finish to earn a medal. She finished the race in 24:20. Freshman Malia Hopper placed 33rd with a time of 24:38. She improved her time from the FZN Twilight meet by 44 seconds.
