Warrenton beats Union to remain unbeaten

The Warrenton Warriors overcame an early deficit to earn their sixth consecutive win to start the season. 

Warrenton (6-0, 2-0 GAC North) took a 14-point lead into halftime and pulled away in the third quarter in their 49-21 win over Union Friday night. 

After Warrenton surrendered an early touchdown, the Warriors responded with a pair of first quarter touchdowns to take a 14-7 lead into the second quarter. Charlie Blondin threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Mason Thompson on 4th and 7 on Warrenton's first drive to even up the score. Warrenton took the lead on Austin Haas' 74-yard touchdown run after the Warrenton defense stopped Union on a fourth down attempt. 

Warrenton added a score in the second quarter on Haas' 3-yard touchdown run. Chance McPike caught a 19-yard pass on fourth down to set up the score. 

After Warrenton surrendered a touchdown to trim their lead to 21-13, McPike responded with three touchdown receptions to give Warrenton a 42-19 lead after three quarters. McPike added his fourth touchdown reception of the half in the fourth quarter. 

Warrenton is slated host Winfield next week.
