Ruff, Teson place first at GAC Tourney

Ruff, Teson place first at GAC Tourney

Two Warrenton wrestlers took home first place finishes at the GAC Tournament last week.

Warrenton senior Jacob Ruff and freshman Zayden Teson both took home first place finishes at the GAC Tournament Jan. 6. Ruff placed first in the 215-pound weight class and Teson placed first in the 106-pound weight class. 

Ruff won all four of his matches to win his weight class. He won his first three matches by fall in 1:30 or less to advance to the championship match. He beat Skyler Lashley of Francis Howell North on a 15-1 major decision in the championship match. 

Teson won all three of his matches to win the 106-pound weight class. After winning his quarterfinal match by fall, Teson beat Gable Ohm of Washington on a 2-0 decision in his semifinal match and Brody Apenbrinck of North Point on a 6-2 decision in the first place match. 

Jeremiah Kassing and Noah Lohrmann both went 4-1 to place third in their respective weight classes. Kassing placed third in the 126-pound weight class. Kassing won his first two matches before falling in his semifinal match to Couper Deckard of Washington. Kassing beat Jacob Paige of Timberland by fall and Brody Kell of North Point on a 9-8 decision to earn a third place finish. 

Lohrmann also won his first two matches in the 138-pound weight class. After falling to Brayden Eikermann of Francis Howell in the semifinals, Lohrmann beat Tristen Koehmstedt of Washington and Ryan Poropat of Ft. Zumwalt South to also place third. 

Joshua Kassing won three matches and placed fourth in the 132-pound weight class. Kassing won his first two matches before dropping a 16-5 decision to Chevy Rosales of Francis Howell in the semifinals. Kassing beat Charlie Reid of St. Charles 4-3 to advance to the third place match. He dropped a 6-0 decision to Cameron Clark of Ft. Zumwalt South in the third place match. 

Max Tesson also won three matches and placed sixth in the 144-pound weight class. 

Warrenton finished the tournament with 119.5 team points. They placed sixth. 

Lady Warriors compete at GAC Tourney

Three Warrenton wrestlers competed at the GAC Tournament Jan. 5. The Lady Warriors had one fourth place finish and two fifth place finishes. 

Allison Vacek won two of her four matches to place fourth in the 155-pound weight class. She beat Kendra Sadler of Ft. Zumwalt South and Addison Marshall of Francis Howell by fall. 

Dakota Lohrmann won four matches and placed fifth in the 120-pound weight class. All four of Lohrmann’s wins came by fall. 

Alexis Ruff won three matches and also placed fifth in her weight class. Ruff earned a pair of wins by decision and an opening round win by fall.
