Liberty Christian dropped a pair of games in the past week.
Liberty Christian (7-5, 5-0 MAC) fell to Belle 68-16 in the first round of the Bourbon Tournament. They trailed 24-2 after the first quarter and 39-10 at halftime.
“We just couldn’t get out of our own heads, especially in the first half,” Liberty Christian Head Coach Kim Meyer said. “We worked hard but couldn’t get into our groove. Second half, we came out with our heads higher and had some fight in our bellies.”
The Lady Eagles also dropped a game to Bowling Green last week. They fell 58-35 to the Lady Cats. Lauren Moss led the Lady Eagles with 18 points. She also finished tied with Trina Scheltens for the team lead with eight rebounds, four assists and four steals. Lucy Steward added eight points in the loss.
Liberty Christian is scheduled to play Jan. 4 and Jan. 6 at the Bourbon Tournament before returning home to host Mississippi Valley Christian and Christian Fellowship next week.
“Overall, we have grown a ton,” Meyer said. “We have a lot to learn and lot of areas to improve in. But these girls are working hard and keep incredibly great attitudes.”
