Katie Joyce, a Warrenton attorney, was appointed as associate judge for the 12th judicial circuit in Warren County on Nov. 3.
The announcement was made by Missouri Gov. Mike Parson. She will fill the position vacated by Judge Michael S. Wright, who was appointed in September to the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District.
"I'm incredibly honored to be chosen for this appointment and I'm excited to get to work on this new chapter in my career, continuing to serve the Warren County community," Joyce said when reached by text on Nov. 3.
Joyce currently serves as both the city attorney for Truesdale and recently agreed to a new 3-year contract to serve as the prosecuting attorney for the city of Warrenton. She operates her law firm, Joyce Law LLC, at 625 E. Veterans Memorial Parkway in Warrenton. She's also serves as the president of the board of directors of Wags and Whiskers animal shelter in Innsbrook.
"Congratulations to Katie Joyce for being appointed to the 12th Circuit bench," Truesdale Mayor Jerry Cannon said. "Katie is extremely knowledgeable, and will bring common sense and fair mindedness to the courtroom. As the city of Truesdale has seen firsthand, our entire area will now benefit from her dedication and service-minded community spirit."
Joyce received a bachelor of arts in criminal justice from Lindenwood University and a jurist doctor from Saint Louis University.
Joyce resides in Wright City. She was also voted best attorney in the 2023 Warren County Record Reader's Choice Awards.
