Christmas arrives in Warren County this weekend

Posted

Warren County residents have a cornucopia of events to attend this weekend to kick off the Christmas season.

The holidays arrive beginning with a First Friday event at 5 p.m. Dec. 1 in Wright City.

The Merry First Friday Christmas Festival will feature a live walk to Bethlehem, a live nativity scene, and a downtown Christmas tree lighting.

The event will also include vendors, food trucks, games, bounce houses, jesters, and a visit from jolly old St. Nicholas.

The fun happens on Second Street and lasts until 9 p.m.

Truesdale Community Christmas

The holiday cheer resumes beginning at 3 p.m. Dec. 2 in Truesdale as the city celebrates its Community Christmas event at the MaryLou Center, 825 Market St.

The event features a chili cook off. Those wishing to participate in the cook-off event must have their chili entries submitted between 2 and 2:45 p.m. Dec. 2. The entry fee is $5 for each chili, and contestants are allowed to enter more than one recipe.

No food preparation will be allowed on site. Tables must be decorated by 2:45.

All entries must be homemade, and the list of ingredients must be provided. Chili must also be labeled as mild, medium, spicy, or waiver required. Participants must also bring their own serving utensils, but sampling cups and spoons will be provided.

Five prizes will be awarded.

The first place winner will receive $250, second earns $100, and third wins $75. The People’s Choice Award winner will receive a trophy, and the winner of the best decorated table will win a Christmas-themed prize.

The cook off ends at 5:30 p.m., but the Christmas event continues until 7 p.m.

The lighted Christmas parade begins at 5:30 p.m. and the Christmas tree lighting is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Giveaways will happen throughout the night. The event also includes the raffle of a 65-inch television, an XBox Series S game console, and a family four pack of Polar Express tickets.
