Wright City senior Nate Bowman took home another postseason accolade, as he was recently named as an all-state honorable mention.
After earning all-district and all-region honors, Bowman was named to the Class 2 soccer all-state team as an honorable mention. Bowman was one of 53 players in Class 2 to receive all-state honors. He was one of 16 forwards in Class 2 in the state to earn all-state honors.
“Nate has a ride or die attitude,” Wright City Head Coach Josh Albregts said. “He is willing to put his body on the line and do whatever it takes to bring home the win.”
Bowman led the Wildcats on the soccer pitch this season with 21 goals. He finished third among all Wright City players with five assists.
Wright City finished the season with an 8-14 record.
“He is now the leader of the program in goals for the season,” Albregts said. “Without those goals, our record is drastically different. Instead of eight wins on the season, we are talking maybe three to four wins. He was important to the success of the team.”
Albregts also referenced Bowman receiving academic all-state honors. Bowman proved to Albregts he was a leader on and off the soccer pitch, Albregts said.
Albregts thought Bowman was the foundation of the team and was the one who set the tone from start to finish.
“I feel that this is a well deserved end for Nate,” Albregts said. “While it is a team sport, needing to have strong individual play is still the name of the game. Nate I think really deserved more than honorable mention but sometimes that’s just the way the cookie crumbles I guess…”
