It’s the topping on the cake,” said Wright.Jefferson also moved on in the shot put, finishing fourth with a toss of 29 feet, 10.5 inches. On the boys side, senior Ty Davis continued to impress during his first year, placing second in the high jump by clearing 6 feet.“He has done an excellent job and still doesn’t have the best technique, but he’s so naturally talented,” said Wright. “He’s got a great chance to move on.”Junior Kyle Christopher pulled through in the discus, placing second with a heave of 129 feet, 8 inches. The Wildcats 3,200-meter relay team, including senior Luke Bruning, sophomore Jake Mueller, junior Nick Mueller and freshman Stephon Norwood, placed second with a time of 8:48.Bruning was also successful on an individual level, qualifying in the mile run with a third-place finish. He ran a 4:45.Senior Kody Morgan advanced in the 300-meter hurdles, finishing third with a time of 43.39 seconds. He narrowly missed out with a fifth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles.“I would say the biggest surprise of the weekend was the 4x800 teams, both of them,” said Wright. “That was awesome to see them get through.”WRIGHT CITY TRACK MOVES ON TO SECTIONALSBill Barrett photo.
