The Wright City R-II School District approved a change order for the new high school project, resulting in a savings of nearly $30,000 for the district.
The Wright City School Board voted 6-0 to approve the change order. The approval gives the green light for three changes — one cost increase and two cost decreases — that result in a net savings of $29,000.
The board approved a change in the roofing membrane and a change in snow guards, totaling a savings of $160,000. The roofing membrane change saves the district $95,000. The district will utilize thermoplastic polyolefin for the roofing instead of a fleece back membrane roofing. The change in snow guards will save the district $65,000. Wright Construction will furnish and install paddle style snow guards.
The board approved allocating an additional $131,000 to change asphalt to concrete for approximately 250,000 square feet of paving for the project. The cost is about $100,000 more for the concrete and $31,000 more for soil mitigation. Any concrete slabs that are cracked or damaged during construction will be replaced at no additional cost to the district.
“Overall, I’m real excited,” Wright City R-II Superintendent Dr. Chris Berger said. “We’re going to get out of this with an improved project at actually a credit of $29,000.”
