A Wright City man suffered serious injuries Wednesday, March 16, in a crash in Foristell that also killed one driver, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
Brian P. Whaley, 46, of Wright City, was the passenger on a 2017 Harley-Davidson Street Glide motorcycle that crashed into a semi truck on the Highway W overpass, according to a highway patrol crash report. The crash occurred just after 9 p.m. March 16. Whaley was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis.
The driver of the motorcycle, Mark C. Winger, 44, of O’Fallon, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance personnel, according to the crash report.
The highway patrol said neither Whaley nor Winger were wearing helmets in the crash. The patrol did not disclose the nature of their injuries.
The crash reportedly occurred when a semi truck made a left turn into the path of the motorcycle on the overpass. Winger was unable to stop in time, and the motorcycle collided with the truck, the highway patrol said. The driver of the truck, Ronald E. Kuelker, 63, of St. Charles, was not reported to have any injuries, according to the highway patrol.
