Wright City man charged following police chase

A Wright City man has been arrested on multiple criminal charges in connection with a police chase last month.

Ryan M. Lockhart was taken into custody Friday, Oct. 23, after being charged two days earlier with felony aggravated fleeing a stop or detention along with misdemeanor speeding, careless or imprudent driving, and failure to register a motor vehicle, according to online court records.

On Sept. 26, Wright City police attempted to stop Lockhart on the North Service Road near North Elm Street while he was driving a silver Audi A6 without displaying a vehicle registration, but Lockhart failed to yield, according to a probable cause statement.

Lockhart allegedly accelerated to speeds over 100 mph in a posted 55 mph zone. An officer pursued him at approximately 90 mph and observed Lockhart turn north onto North Stringtown Road, but Lockhart was able to evade the officer, according to the statement.

Subsequent investigation revealed Lockhart had recently been stopped by another officer and had also visited AutoZone, however, where an employee was able to identify him.

Police later interviewed Lockhart and asked him why he fled. “Lockhart stated he was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time and was nervous,” according to the probable cause statement, adding that he saw emergency lights and “punched it.”

Lockhart, born in 1997, is being held at the Warren County Jail with his bond set at $15,000 cash only.
