A 23-year-old woman has died due to injuries sustained during a house fire in the early-morning hours on Friday, March 8, in Wright City.
Emergency officials reported two other occupants of the home, a 21-year-old male and three-month-old infant, remain hospitalized. Their conditions are not immediately known.
No cause has been determined though the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office is handling the investigation, according to a release from the Wright City Police Department. The home is located in the 200 block of Westwoods Road.
No names have been released.
When first responders arrived at the home, they were told two occupants –- the woman and infant –- remained inside. Sgt. Michael Filson directed firefighters to a bedroom where he could hear shallow breathing from the exterior of the home, the release stated. Firefighter Cameron Spires entered the bedroom through an exterior window and located the woman and baby, according to the release.
Medical care was provided immediately on the scene. The woman was later pronounced dead at the hospital, officials reported.
