A woman from the Truxton area was arrested and charged after being accused of firing a handgun in the direction of a juvenile.
Roseann Balio, 54, was arrested Oct. 16 and charged with first-degree child endangerment and unlawful use of a weapon, according to online court records.
The incident reportedly occurred that afternoon at Balio’s home on Pin Oak Church Road, according to a document from the Warren County Sheriff’s Department. The juvenile involved in the incident fled the home and came to the sheriff’s department to report the incident.
Upon speaking with a deputy, the juvenile stated that she and another person were at Balio’s house when the juvenile and Balio got into an argument. The juvenile alleged that Balio chased her around the house yelling and cursing, before the juvenile exited the back door and fled into woods near the house. That’s when Balio grabbed a firearm and started shooting into the woods, the juvenile alleged. She told the deputy that at least one shot passed close enough for her to hear the sound of the bullet.
The other person who was in the home at the time reported that she heard five to eight shots being fired. She then exited the house after speaking with the juvenile over the phone, and they left together.
The deputy investigating the case reported that he went to Balio’s house and spoke with her, and that she allegedly admitted to firing “a magazine and a half” from her Ruger .22 pistol after the juvenile left the house. The deputy also reported finding four live .22 rounds near the back porch of the home.
Court records indicate Balio was arrested and taken to the Warren County Jail, where Associate Judge Richard Scheibe ordered that she be held without bond. An additional bond hearing was scheduled for Oct. 25.
