Visitors to this weekend’s Warrenton Home and Garden Show can expect to see a wide variety of vendors. The 12th annual event will be held Saturday, April 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. at the Missouri Army National Guard Armory in Warrenton. “We think everyone can take away something,” said Jan Oleanrick, executive director of the Warrenton Area Chamber of Commerce, event sponsor. “Whether they are in the stage of remodeling, insuring, building or planting a garden, we have all kinds of things,” she added. Organizers estimate 1,000 people will visit the two-day event. The show, now in its third year at the Armory, has taken advantage of the highly visible location off Interstate 70. Admission is free. Some of the vendors that will be participating include landscaping, construction and flooring companies, along with local insurance agents and banks. New exhibitors this year include Davis Meats, which will have samples of its award-winning sausage available, and Coca-Cola Refreshments. Vendors will be located inside and outside the Armory facility. Organizers have been pleased with the event’s growth over the years. “It helps highlight local companies and is a fun free event for the family to attend,” said Ruth Ebbinghaus, event chairman. “There are all kind of options available. Pretty much anything you need for the spring, people will be there for you.” The Warrenton Fire Protection District will hold a demonstration Saturday on the effectiveness of having sprinklers installed in a home. Oleanrick said the department will burn two rooms — one with sprinklers and one without — beside one another. The demonstration is scheduled between noon-1 p.m. “You will see the timing of how quickly the fire is contained in the room with sprinklers,” she said. Also on Saturday, the Warren County Sheriff's Department K-9 dog, Bronto, will be on hand. Children’s activities will be held both days. The show allows local residents an opportunity to stay close to home without having to burn much fuel. Olearnick noted that some vendors will be selling items that would make nice gifts for Easter and Mother’s Day. “This year I am blown away by the caliber of vendors we have,” she noted. Parking will be available across the street from the Armory in the Vantage Credit Union and Global Drug Testing Services lots. For more information, contact the Chamber office at 636-456-2530.
