For the first time in two seasons, the Warrenton girls basketball team lost a conference game, falling 35-34 St. Charles West on Feb. 7.
Now 16-6 overall and 6-1 in conference play, Coach Hannah Logan and the Warriors will look to get back to playing with the swagger they’ve played with all season going down the stretch.
“Last year we went undefeated in the conference,” said Logan, now in her second season as head coach. “(Friday night) as a team we had no energy on either end and couldn’t get us going in the right direction.”
Leading the way against St. Charles West was senior Nevaeh Hill, who finished with 15 points and seven rebounds. Hill leads the team, averaging 16 points per game to go with over nine rebounds, while shooting over 65 percent from the free throw line. Senior Sophi Mueller has also been strong all season for Warrenton, averaging over 10 points along with almost six rebounds per game.
Erin Klasing added seven points for Warrenton against St. Charles West in a losing cause.
The Warriors were back in action in another GAC North contest against Orcahrd Farm. They played at St. Charles on Feb. 16. Their final home game is at 6 p.m. Feb. 19 against Winfield.
