On Thursday, October 7, the Warrenton FFA Chapter held its October Chapter Meeting and Initiation Ceremony. After chapter business was conducted members were initiated and were presented with their FFA degrees.
Black Hawk Middle School had 20 students earn their Discovery Degree. To earn this degree members are enrolled in the agriculture education course and show an interest in learning about the field of agriculture. Warrenton High School inducted 20 Greenhand members at the initiation ceremony. These first year FFA members earned their greenhand degree by learning about the FFA organization, memorized and presented the FFA creed, and have an action plan to develop a quality supervised agriculture experience (SAE) project throughout their high school career.
In addition to those celebrations, 19 chapter members were recognized for earning their chapter degrees. These students earned this degree by continually working and investing in their SAE project, demonstrated the use of proper parliamentary procedure, and led a class discussion for 15 minutes over an agriculture industry topic. The chapter degree is the highest degree a local chapter can bestow upon its members.
To cap off the night all members and families enjoyed refreshments while getting to know their new FFA family.
