The Warrenton Warriors recently took second place at the Academic Challenge in Engineering and Science sectional competition.
The Warriors placed second in the competition, just three points behind Washington for the sectional title.
Of the 24 Warrenton High School students that tested at the sectional competition, 11 of them medaled in at least one test category. Grant Buechner, Roy Briggs, Jesse Hackmann and Uriah Koester each placed first in a category, while placing in two different categories. Briggs placed first in computer science and second in English, while Hackmann placed first in math and second in physics. Buechner and Koester registered first and third place finishes. Buechner and Koester finished tied for first in physics. Buechner placed third in Biology and Koester placed third in engineering design. Alice Briggs also registered a first place finish. She placed first in English.
Autumn Calwell and Luke Rausch both placed in Chemistry. Caldwell placed second and Rausch placed third. Ryah Collum and Abby Palmer finished tied for third in English. Wyatt Claiborne and Merrick Owens also logged third place finishes. Claiborne placed third in math and Owens finished third in physics.
Katie Shramek, Charlotte Siebert and Owen Thompson were also on the Warrenton Academic Challenge team that competed at the state competition, which was held April 19 at Eastern Illinois University.
