The Warren County R-III School District board of education approved the purchase of four new school buses during its Feb. 8 meeting.
The district approved spending $619,188 to purchase four 77 passenger buses from Midwest Transit.
“We try to replace 10 percent of our bus fleet every year,” Superintendent Dr. Gregg Klinginsmith said. “This keeps our bus fleet current and if everything goes according to plan, we will never have a bus that is more than 10 years old.”
The district also approved continuing the co-op with Holy Rosary Catholic School that allows those students to participate in middle school basketball, cross country, football, cheerleading, softball, track, volleyball, and wrestling.
“A large majority of Holy Rosary students attend Warrenton High School,” Klinginsmith said. “Allowing them to participate in our middle school activities helps improve our high school programs.”
The board also approved a $293,650 bid from Mike Brown Construction to fix the roof at Warrior Ridge Elementary School and to keep Wagner Portrait Group as the district’s official photographer.
