Warren County Commissioners are scheduled to discuss the zoning change that would require storage units to receive a conditional use permit.
The meeting is at 1 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Warren County building, 101 Mockingbird Lane in Warrenton.
Commissioners will hear from the public and debate the issue after the county’s Planning and Zoning Board unanimously approved the measure during its June 15 meeting. where several members of the public planned to speak.
Those speakers included Wright City Mayor Michelle Heiliger and Aldermen Ramiz Hakim, Kerry Owens, and Don Andrews, all of whom planned to speak in favor of the changes, but the board acted before hearing public comments.
“This will give us more oversight to be able to disseminate whether they’re in the right area or being used for the right reasons,” Chair Corey Johnston, the Camp Branch Township representative on the commission said. “So we’ll have a little more oversight in terms of where they’re being built.”
