Mrs. Velva Dean Sherman (nee: Cregar), of Marthasville, passed away on Wednesday, June 28. She was born on September 6, 1940, in Gore, to the late Charles and Silva Cregar (nee: Jennings.) Velva had reached the age of 82 years.
Velva was united in marriage to Donald Sherman on July 2, 1960, in Pinckney, and shared nearly 63 wonderful years together.
To this union, three children were born, Diana, Donny, and the late Kenny. Velva spent many years as a talented seamstress, sewing countless items for her family and friends. She loved crossword puzzles, enjoyed reading a good book and crafting, especially making Christmas decorations. She also enjoyed her collection of all types of angels and Denim Day figurines. Above all, the time she spent with her grandchildren is what meant most to her. Velva was a beloved wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to many.
Those that are grateful for having shared Velva's life are her beloved husband, Donald Sherman; her children, Diana (James) Bridges, and Donald, Jr. (Kathy) Sherman; her grandchildren, Amy (Cody) Morgan, Thomas Bridges, Alex (Amanda) Sherman, Layten (Kayla) Sherman, Bryent Wells, and Jeremy (Tessa) Sherman; her great-grandchildren, Dakota, Emma and Kamylla Bridges, Masin Davis, Todd Lockhart, Chevelle Sherman, Brantley Estes, Avianna Sherman, Carter Wells and Blaise Sherman; dear siblings, Rosalie Speckhals, and Wilma (Donald) Theissen; many other relatives and friends. Velva was proceeded in death by her parents, Charles and Sylva Cregar, her loving son, Kenny Sherman, and her cherished granddaughter, Brittany Wells, and her dear sister, Darlene Cregar. She was a dear aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
A visitation for Velva will be held from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Monday, July 10, with a 4 p.m. Celebration of Life Service to begin at Holstein UCC Church in Marthasville. Memorial donations are appreciated to the Holstein Church or Cemetery in honor of Velva, c/o Martin Funeral Home.
