UPDATE: 150 pounds of pot seized on I-70 in Warrenton

Warren County deputies seized 150 pounds of marijuana worth around $250,000, and two men from California were arrested during a traffic stop on Interstate 70 Jan. 4.Sheriff Kevin Harrison said a deputy was returning from a domestic dispute off of Highway B at 10 p.m., when he observed a vehicle driving erratically through the construction zone where a new overpass is being built in Warrenton.The vehicle was pulled over onto Highway 47 in Warrenton, and the Wright City Police K-9 unit was called to examine the vehicle. The dog gave a positive alert for the presence of narcotics, and during a search six duffle bags full of packaged marijuana were discovered.Both occupants of the vehicle have been charged with second-degree drug trafficking. The driver was identified as Daniel Marcogliese, 46, of Azusa, Calif.The passenger in the vehicle, Darrin J. Lamasa, 47, of Huntington Beach, Calif., was in possession of a U.S. passport that revealed an extensive international travel history, according to the sheriff’s department.Neither person has any known ties to the state of Missouri.The bail for both suspects was set at $10,000 each, which both men have posted. Lamasa was required to surrender his passport.Arraignments for both suspects were set for Jan. 10 at the Warren County Circuit Court.
