Two Warren County residents were honored during the Missouri State Fair that concluded Aug. 20.
Ryleigh Witt, of Warrenton, exhibited the grand champion steer during the sale of champions auction.
Her 1,410 pound Crossbred steer sold for $24,750 and was purchased by Edward Jones Associates, Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe, Wheeler Auctions, and Randy Little.
Additional money for the grand champion steer was contributed by the Youth in Agriculture Committee and hometown supporters, wrestling in a total record-breaking sale of $46,000.
Also honored during the fair was Ardell Mikus, of Wright city, who was inducted in the Missouri 4-H Hall of Fame.
The Missouri 4-H Hall of Fame honors “individuals who have created exceptional legacies of volunteer service and dedication to Missouri 4-H,” according to the group’s website.
