Recently the Associated Press released a story that President Donald Trump planned to use National Guard troops in enforcement of immigration rules. The AP had obtained information in which the use of National Guard troops was being planned. The White House denied it.U.S. Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly seems to have settled the issue. He pledged Thursday that America won’t enlist its military to enforce immigration laws and there will be no mass deportations.The pledge came as senior Trump officials sought to temper Latin American concerns about a new U.S. immigration crackdown.This episode is typical Trumpism. He says one thing one day and then it is countered with denials and explanations the next day. Secretary Kelly and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson made the pledge about the troops in Mexico City. They said that all deportations will honor human rights and the U.S. legal system. They also said they will have close coordination with Mexico’s government officials.The president still says his crackdown on violators of immigration laws will involve some use of the military.Our government is a bit confusing these days with the Trumpism policies. Are we going to have four years of this?But, believe it or not, some good has resulted from Trumpism, such as China’s ban on importing coal from North Korea.Foreign countries don’t know what to expect from Trumpism, which has its positive side.
