Shirley Jean Fahrig

Shirley Jean Fahrig, 84, passed away on September 5. She was born on June 16, 1942, in St. Louis, to the late Arthur and Ghuela (nee Neeley) Hurt. She graduated from Pattonville High School in 1961.
 
Shirley worked as an office manager for MetLife Insurance for more than 30 years before retiring. After retirement, she continued working part-time at the Wonder Bread store in Warrenton. Shirley was a generous, loving, kind, and positive person who was always happy and brought joy to those around her. She had a booming, unforgettable laugh that could make anyone smile. Shirley loved singing, sharing stories about her family and their younger days, and spending time with her family playing dominoes and Skip-Bo. Most importantly, Shirley had a deep love for the Lord. She was a faithful member of Warrenton Baptist Church, where her faith was an important part of her life.
 
Shirley is survived by her five children: Denise Lake; Debbie Enger; Doug (Tina) Fahrig; Darlene (Tony) Markovich; and Dawn (Ed) Mueller; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ghuela Hurt; her husband, Lawrence Fahrig; and her nine siblings, Velda Herrmann, Dorothy “Doty,” John Hurt, Charles Hurt, Betty Walters, Ruth Carll, Jack Hurt, Bill Hurt, and Sharon Sheperd.
 
Shirley will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, laughter, love, and faith will remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
 
 A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 16, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.   at Pitman Funeral Home, in Warrenton. The funeral will follow at 12 also at the funeral home in Warrenton. Memorials can be made to the Salvation Army in care of Pitman Funeral Home.
