Sharon Annelle (Blount) West, 74, of Bellflower, passed away on Sunday, November 5, at St. Andrews at New Florence.

Sherry was born on March 27, 1949, to Haskell Norman Blount and Norma Fay (Rippeto) Blount in St. Louis. She graduated from Wright City High School with the class of 1967. In her teen years, Sherry worked as a waitress at Big Boys in Wright City. On September 20, 1969, she married her loving husband, Michael Carl West. Mike preceded her in death a mere 16 days earlier, on October 20, 2023.

Mrs. West valued her family. From the beginning, she worked as a homemaker and cared for her three sons. She was a room mother and attended many field trips with them. As you can probably imagine, there is quite a bit of running and laundry that comes along with three boys, but that didn’t faze Sherry, she was a caring and attentive mother. This love was then passed on to her grandchildren, whom she spoiled religiously. If she even heard about something they may like you could guarantee she would have it the next time they were there. Extended family also cherished this love with Sherry’s open-door policy. When family was visiting, they always stayed at the West Home, creating many special connections and close relationships throughout Sherry’s prime years. Even through countless health struggles of her own, she was always happy to be helping someone else.

She had an eye for florals and made sure to show it off in her flower gardens. She spent countless hours planning them, along with how she was going to redecorate the house. She also had a knack for decorating, especially for the holidays or using her collected antiques. She was also an excellent cook and enjoyed baking and crafting. Sherry was an avid baseball fan and was particularly fond of Jim Edmonds and Mark McGwire.

Sherry is survived by her 3 sons: Jeffrey Michael West of St. Louis, Mark E. (Amy) West of St. Peters, Ryan (Leslie) West of Montgomery City; grandchildren: Jamie West of St. Peters, Anna West of St. Peters, and Madison West of Montgomery City; sisters: Janice Gates of San Diego, California, and Roberta Walker of Ferguson; and her brother, Terry Blount of Phoenix, Arizona.

Mrs. West was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Carl West; parents, Haskell and Fay Blount; and brothers-in-law: Ronald Gates and Billey Walker.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 10 A.M. at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, with Laura Law officiating. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Wright City Cemetery. Casketbearers include Jeff West, Mark West, Ryan West, Jamie West, Anna West, and Madison West. Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, c/o Schlanker Funeral Home.
