Ruth S. Yocum

Mrs. Ruth S. Yocum (nee: Schroer), of Warrenton, passed away on Thursday, September 7,  at the age of 95 years. She was born on October 10, 1927, in Treloar, to the late Arthur and Myrtle (nee: Kehr) Schroer.

Ruth was a lifelong resident of Warren County. She was united in marriage to Borden Yocum on June 25, 1949, in Warrenton. This union was blessed with two children, Frank and Barbara. Ruth and Borden celebrated 31 wonderful years together before his passing on December 25, 1980.  Ruth was an active member of Frieden's United Church of Christ for many years. She served in several capacities within the church and also as a member of the Dorcas Society and the Eastern Star.  Ruth also served on the Warrenton Park Board. She was employed at Guardian Title CO for many years, where she worked as an Abstractor. She enjoyed her job and the friends she made while working there. Ruth enjoyed watching Cardinal baseball, Mizzou, and playing cards.

Ruth Yocum was preceded in death by her loving husband, Borden; her parents, Arthur and Myrtle Schroer; and one brother, Clinton Schroer. Family members who are grateful for having shared in Ruth's life are her children, Frank Yocum and wife Barb, Barbara Daly and husband Jim; her grandchildren, Jessica and husband, Kyle Potter and Nathaniel and wife, Kim Jakul; great-grandchildren, Taylor Jakul, Veronica Jakul Potter, and Simon Jakul Potter; "adopted" children, Russell Clarke and Guy Schreck. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to many. 

The family of Ruth Yocum will host a Celebration of her life visitation from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12,  at Martin Funeral Home, in Warrenton. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, at Friedens UCC in Warrenton. Burial will follow in the Warrenton City Cemetery. Memorial donations are appreciated to Frieden's UCC or the Warren County Senior Center.
