Roy Joseph May, 82, of Mission, Texas; Foristell; and Pleasant Hill, born August 12, 1941 in East Saint Louis, Illinois to the late Roy Agustus and Una Lucille (nee Arnold) May, passed away unexpectedly to his heavenly home on June 5, at his home in Pleasant Hill, with his beloved wife at his side.
Roy attended Parks Air College and enjoyed a long career as an aviation technician for Ozark Airlines/ TWA / American Airlines at Lambert Field International Airport, St. Louis, Missouri. He volunteered with the Wright City, Missouri Fire Department as a fireman and as a director for six years. For sixteen years, Roy and Marlene enjoyed wintering in Mission, Texas and escaping the coldest season in Missouri. Roy will be remembered for his amazing handcrafted furniture and woodworking he shared with family and many friends, spectacular tractor and car restorations including a 1957 convertible T-Bird, and most of all, the love of his family, wit and humor.
In addition to his parents, Roy is preceded in death by his brother John Robert May. He is survived by his wife Marlene of the home, daughter Laura (Doug) Young of Gerty, Oklahoma and son Scott (Cindy) May of Foristell / Pleasant Hill, granddaughters Heather (TJ) Moore, Kayla (Doug) Browne, Danielle May and grandson Ryan May along with 3 great grandsons Luke, Jackson and Damian who always brought a big smile to his face.
Roy’s Celebration of Life will be held at St Patrick Church social hall (church entrance, turn right), 405 S. Church Street, Wentzville, MO at 11 a.m. Monday June 17th. If so inclined, the family encourages friends to share moments/stories at this gathering. Lunch will be served. A Celebration of Life will be planned in Mission, TX at a later date. Interment of ashes will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery at a private family service.
