Mr. Richard "Rick" Clark Matson, 65, Wright City, lost his battle with Parkinson's and passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, April 29, 2020. He was born on November 11, 1954, in Omaha, Nebraska., to Donald A. and Helen J. (nee: Covrig) Matson.
Rick married Lori Lynn VanDerHeyden, in Scott County, Iowa, on September 13, 1980. They had two children, Jonica and Derrick. Rick loved bowling. He started working at the local bowling alley at the young age of 16 and spent his entire life working in the bowling industry. He worked for AMF for over twenty years. After that, he was a contractor for the army and was stationed in Seoul, Korea. He built bowling lanes for all the army bases. Rick, Jonica, and Derrick all have multiple 300 games under their belts! He also enjoyed anything mechanical and working with his hands. Rick was an excellent swimmer in his younger years and loved to waterski. You could also find him painting or working on woodworking projects.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Helen; siblings, Nancy, Jerry, Donald, and Elaine. He is survived by his wife, Lori Matson; two children, Jonica Mathews and husband Craig and Derrick Matson and wife Amanda; grandchildren, Chasadee Matson and Cameron Matson; great-grandchild, Bennett Matson; good buddy, Greg Meyers; many other friends and family.
