By Tim SchmidtRecord Managing EditorWhen Warrenton Post 122’s Donovan Mozee swings, Senior Legion Manager Scott Butler notices he does not cheat himself.Mozee showed his power potential at the plate Sunday afternoon. The Wright City senior-to-be swatted two home runs as Post 122 exploded with 23 hits and thumped Pacific 24-0.Mozee finished with five RBIs and scored twice. Both of his blasts came in his first two at-bats as Post 122 jumped out to a quick 16-0 lead in the first two innings. The victory improved the squad’s record to 3-2. Butler was glad to see Mozee have a big game at the plate.“It’s only a matter of time before Mozee starts tearing the cover off the ball,” Butler said. “He just knows how to hit and knows how to make adjustments. He didn’t start off the season like he wanted to, but maybe this game will catapult him in the right direction.”Check out the photo gallery from the event here: http://bit.ly/1FYGYLSBen Stephens led Post 122 with a 4-for-5 performance at the plate. He knocked in a team-high five runs and scored three times. Troy Muse also had a strong night, going 3-6 at the plate with four runs scored and three RBIs.Airk Rader and Brandon Moeller each had three hits, with Tyler Brittain and Rader contributing three RBIs. Corey Eckenfels scored three times.Post 122 erupted for 11 runs in the first inning, sparked by two-run singles from Rader and Muse. The team kept pouring it on with five runs in the second. It extended its 17-0 lead with a six-run fifth.“This offense has serious threat to do some real damage in this district,” Butler said. “One through nine, we are very talented and very capable of carrying the load for the offense on any particular day. It may not be the flashiest way of going about our business, but anyone can carry us. We have speed, we have power and we have the ability to get on base. We just know how to grind out at bats.”The strong offense backed the pitching effort from Stephens. The right-hander held Pacific to one hit in the first five innings, while striking out 10 and walking four.Duvel threw the final two innings and allowed just one hit. He struck out two.Though Butler feels his team should have at least one more win on the season, he is happy with the team’s start.Post 122 returns to action Sunday at home against Washington. Game time is 5 p.m.“We are above .500 for the first time in I don’t know how long and we don’t seem like we are going to slow down,” he remarked. “We have faced tough pitching all year and still will continue to do so, but I feel like we will continue to run off wins which is great for this program and is what it needs to boost confidence throughout the remainder of the season.”

Donovan Mozee is congratulated after hitting one of his two home runs Sunday.
