By Tim SchmidtRecord Managing EditorThough the Warrenton Freshman Legion baseball team sits winless through the first three games of the season, Manager Jamey Sherman is not panicking. He sees a team that is on the verge of a timely hit or two from breaking into the win column. On Friday, the offense remained quiet yet again as Post 122 fell 3-0 to Pacific.Warrenton was held to three hits in the road loss at the Pacific Athletic Association.Post 122 had opened the season with two losses to St. Charles, considered one of the top teams in the Ninth District. In the losing cause, Kory Schniedermeyer went 2-for-3 at the plate, including hitting a double in the fourth inning and singling in the sixth. Kole Hammerberg had the lone other hit for Warrenton.Pacific jumped ahead with two runs in the first inning and scored its final run of the game in the bottom of the fourth.Mitch Burnette and Schniedermeyer split the innings on the mound for Post 122. Burnette pitched the first 3 2/3 innings prior to being replaced. In 2 1/3 innings, Schniedermeyer gave up just one hit, struck out four and walked one.“Our pitching kept us in that game,” Sherman said. “Mitch Burnette started and he was really strong. Kory came in and was almost unhittable. Our pitching is definitely coming around. Our bats are not there yet. We just couldn’t get a timely hit.”Post 122 is back in action Thursday with a home game against Washington. Game time is 6 p.m. The team also hosts a doubleheader Sunday versus Elsberry starting at noon.“We’re a young team and showing improvement,” Sherman said.Early skidGoogle
