A male suspect believed to have robbed approximately $25,000 at gunpoint from American Bank in Warrenton May 21 has been arrested. Jerry B. Chambers, 32, of St. Louis, was arrested Friday morning without incident at a residence in the St. Louis area. A tip from someone who knew Chambers led to his arrest, according to the FBI. Warrenton detectives assisted officers from the FBI and St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department with Chambers' arrest at around 6:30 a.m., Warrenton Police Chief Greg Houdyshell said. Police said a black male suspect believed to be Chambers entered the Warrenton bank, located at 917 N.E. Service Road, May 21 at 11:59 a.m. — just before closing time. He approached one of the tellers requesting a money order, displayed a two-tone handgun and demanded access to the safe. The suspect then tied both employees with zip-ties, entered the safe and placed the cash in a trash bag. No one was injured in the robbery. The money has yet to be recovered, Houdyshell said.
