Wright City Cub Scout Pack 835, led by Cubmaster Isaac Ovchinikov, participated in the annual Pinewood Derby on Jan. 28 at the Wright City Lion’s Club. Cub Scouts build wooden cars with their families and race them down a gravity-driven track.
The Pinewood Derby promotes character development through sportsmanship. Cub Scouts also are encouraged to be creative, take pride in their work, and learn STEM principles including mechanics, physics, and engineering. In addition to racing, community businesses donated raffle items to help benefit the Scouting program.
Wright City first responders were also invited to participate in a race between police, fire and EMS.
