It was a race for the ducks on Aug. 4.
Rubber ones, to be specific.
The Kiwanis club sold more than 1,000 ducks to people hoping to win $1,000 for having the fastest of the little yellow rubber duckies, which required eight heats to be run on the course that was about 130 feet long on the FMB Bank property in Wright City. The races went on as part of the August First Friday event along First Street in the city.
In the end, more than 40 ducks advanced to the final, where Emilee had the winner. Emilee didn 't provide a last name to the organizers, nor was she present but the $1,000 prize was hers for winning the first contest.
The Kiwanis hope to continue to race into the future and want to sell even more ducks next year.
